Read with care
We selected blessings, songs of thanks, wisdom about time, and examples of family care. A narrative blessing spoken to one person in an ancient setting should not be presented as a personal prediction for every birthday.
Psalm 139 reflects on being known by God; Psalm 90 asks for wisdom about limited days. Both are richer when read as whole poems rather than isolated birthday slogans.
How to use these passages
For a card, read the full chapter first, then quote a short complete passage with its reference and translation. A message of your own about the recipient often matters more than a long verse list.
